Trek to Everest Base Camp with the Jagged Globe Climbing Team

Introduction

Each spring there is one opportunity for you to join our Everest Team Trek and make the famous journey to Everest Base Camp with our climbers, who will be attempting to reach the summit later in the season.

One of the most famous treks in the world takes you deep into the heart of the Nepalese Himalaya. You'll trek four to five hours a day surrounded by many of the world's highest and most beautiful mountains. Along the way there's a chance to soak up local food and culture and you'll sleep in traditional, warm and friendly tea houses run by Sherpa families.

The adventure begins in Kathmandu, where you can explore for a full day and relax for two nights before flying to Lukla. The mountain airstrip here is the gateway to Nepal's famous Khumbu region. You'll set off for your first night on the trail straight away, criss-crossing the Dudh Kosi river on airy suspension bridges as you make your way towards Everest. The journey takes you through many Sherpa villages, including the Sherpa capital, Namche Bazaar. Many Tibetans cross the nearby border to trade traditional artefacts at the market in this prosperous town. Then there's the monastery at Thyangboche, bird-filled rhododendron bushes and sunset views of Everest. You spend three full days exploring around the village of Dingboche. This is a beautiful area and time spent here ensures you and the climbers are well-acclimatised before continuing higher up the valley to base camp.

Our Everest Team Trek is two days longer than our standard Everest Base Camp trek and is a good option if you want to spend more time in the Khumbu Valley and have plenty of time to acclimatise. Jagged Globe is widely considered one of the world's foremost organisations running expeditions to Everest's summit, we are just as proud to offer this unique trekking opportunity alongside the climbing team.

The team will also spend three nights in Dingboche. While in Dingboche, you can also attend a seminar about high altitude acclimatisation at the hospital in nearby Pheriche, run by the Himalayan Rescue Association. Overnight lodges.
Day 12:Trek to Lobuje (4,940m)

Gorak Shep, the site of the 1953 expedition's base camp, is 3 hours beyond Lobuje. Evening ascent of Kala Pattar for views of Everest. Overnight lodge.
Day 14:Trek to Everest base camp (5,350m)
Contouring along the valley side, the trail leads on to the moraine of the Khumbu Glacier and becomes quite vague, weaving between mounds of rubble. After about 3 hours you’ll eventually reach base camp near the foot of the Khumbu Icefall. This will be the home for the climbers for the next six weeks. After lunch you’ll have a chance to explore the environs of base camp, visit other expedition teams, and explore the start of the route towards Camp One. Overnight camp.

IMPORTANT NOTE: Every effort will be made to keep to the above itinerary, but as this is adventure travel in a remote mountain region, we cannot guarantee it! Weather conditions, availability of porters and the health of team members can all contribute to changes. The guides and their Sherpa assistants will try to ensure that the trip runs according to plan, but please be prepared to be flexible if necessary.
