This expedition aims to ski from 89 degrees north to the Geographic North Pole. Unlike Unlike the South Pole, the North Pole is a fluid jigsaw of ice and open water over the ocean, so there is the added risk of breaking through the ice or having to cross open water.

This trip gets its name To Hell and Back as this is the place from where you depart by private transport to Storlien over the Swedish border, to ski back to Hell on the west coast of Norway. It could also be called Crossing Norway, as you ski from the eastern border to the west coast of the narrow part of Norway.
