The following trips can all be completed in 2 weeks or less.
Mountaineering in the Greater Ranges is by definition a time-consuming activity. Due to the need to acclimatise, only the most accessible mountains of 5,000m or more can be climbed in less than 2-weeks from the UK. In Nepal, for example, just reaching the base of the mountains often takes nearly two weeks. Potaniin Glacier and Mount Khuiten in Mongola. Remote, but only 4,374m Photo: © Neal ShortHowever, we recognise that there is a demand for short breaks to mountains outside of the European Alps and so we've included some of the best destinations available. Despite the long flight, the volcanoes of Ecuador are very accessible with dirt tracks allowing you to drive quite high up into the mountains. Mexico also benefits from a similar infrastructure. In Europe, the Caucasus can be reached quite quickly, with the lower slopes of Elbrus being a popular ski resort. Mongolia is remote and adventurous, but the mountains are not too high. Our Mongolian Climber expedition is as much about the travel experience as the actualy mountaineering and packs in a lot depsite being just 2 weeks long.
