Update from Andy Owen in Scotland

"More snow in Scotland than in Sochi, Courcheval, or Whistler, official. Not sure who came up with the metrics or from where, but somebody found a snowpack nearly 3m deep within one of the Scottish ski areas.

Most routes in the Gorms are buried, and the upper part of the Ben has no discernable route lines, as it`s all buried so deep the major features have dissappeared. The Lochan in Glencoe has about the only available good climbing this side of the North West, which is having a bumper winter.

Climbed Scabbard Chimney yesterday, nice 2 pitch easy grade 3, not sure why it gets grade 5!"

It sounds as though the season might extend well into April...
