Jagged Globe team cross South Georgia

Mungo Ross called today by satellite phone from Fortuna Bay on South Georgia to confirm that he and five members of the Jagged Globe team have successfully made a traverse of the island, in the footsteps of Sir Ernest Shackleton. The team set out from King Haakon Bay two days ago. Mungo said:

"It's been a very hard crossing. The weather had been very warm, so the glaciers were extremely dry, meaning we had to weave around lots of crevasses. Luckily, we had great weather for the entire duration of the crossing. The team is very tired, but we're now looking forward to being picked up by the Polar Pioneer and cruising off to visit some of the other islands down here in the Southern Ocean."
